And here we are, officially in the third trimester! I feel bigger every day, with some days presenting more of a “full” feeling where everything is achy and the big bump in front of me is a lot less pliable. I'm starting to also feel the effects of the “nesting” stage, with wanting to get things situated and orderly — though this really is showing more in my work than in our living area. We had kind of decided to not do too much to the house, since our lease is up in January and we're DEFINITELY looking for other options, but there are a few things I'd like to do to make the rest of our time here a little more comfortable and #babything-conducive. I'm totally freaked out at the prospect of gaining 25+ pounds in the next three months, as one apparently does during the third trimester, especially considering I haven't gained all that much thus far (~10 pounds). But, whatever happens happens, and I'll just continue to take care of myself and the little dude as best I can.
As promised, I'm taking a page out of my rad homie Cris from Kiss My Tulle‘s book (who took a page from Little Baby Garvin) and will do my damndest to post weekly updates … because someone out there might give a shit and want to know what's going on with this whole thing.
How far along? 28 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: Over 157.2, but not sure how much.
Maternity clothes? Yup. Maternity leggings, tank tops and T-shirts (especially from Target) are my jam.
Stretch marks? I did a pretty thorough inspection today — er, as thorough as I could get with shitty lighting and poor eyesight — and I still don't see any.
Sleep: Aaaaand back to being shitty. I'm getting up more frequently throughout the night, restless leg syndrome is REAL, y'all, #babything is obv. a fan of partying at night and it's taking me forever to fall back asleep.
Best moment this week: I loved hanging with my friends at the Quest for the Golden Jesus Chili Cook-Off, despite the weighty heat and humidity. Team Chili Nelson came in second for the third year in a row, which is awesome but still frustrating! I was also pretty stoked to wake up this morning and realize that we're now in the third trimester.
Miss Anything? Being able to cook a meal without my feet hurting terribly. Being able to take a shower and dry my hair without getting winded.
Movement: It's a motherfucking party inside my uterus, yo. The movements have gotten really intense and occasionally make me a bit queasy.
Food cravings: Topo Chico still reigns. But I've also been wanting carrots with ranch dip and ice cream sandwiches.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Tomato-based stuff, though I made a baller stuffed zucchini and that fared pretty well. Tons of movement. Seemingly anything at any time.
Gender: Still a dude.
Labor Signs: Hell no. Thank goodness.
Belly Button in or out? In, but it's getting smaller.
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy, but I'm getting a bit anxious about all the work stuff that needs to be done. I have three weddings staring me down, in addition to ensuring I have enough blog content for when I take leave.
Looking forward to: The baby shower #MFE's work is throwing for us. The Rangers game tomorrow.
It's been a busy work week for me, with weddings, big advertising collaborations and some other good stuff brewing, but I'm finding myself having to pace myself more because there are moments when I'm just too tired or uncomfortable to get shit done. Trying to get out of the work-all-the-time mindset is really tough for me, and I know that I'm going to have to start letting go of the need to always be getting something done soon, otherwise it'll be a super rough transition.
